About Us
​We are building our ranch from the ground up. For some, that is a daunting task. But for us, this is how we connect with our core values. Bringing to you stories of ranch life, how tos of our favorite crafts, and images of our hobbies, we hope you can unplug from an action-packed daily life for a few minutes. We aren’t experts by any means, but we feel that our unpolished, share- as-you -learn approach will let you connect at a deeper level than perfected social media content
Our Story
We are self-described recovering city folk. Jake and I (Jen) both grew up in the city but found that the fast-paced life wasn’t for us. We had a small hobby farm and began exploring different crafts like woodworking, knife making, gardening, and baking. Those hobbies, combined with our mutual interests in conservation, hunting, and fishing led us to dream bigger. Our dreams came to fruition this year in 2024 when we found the perfect acreage nestled in the rolling hills of Madison County Iowa. From there, twenty-seven three ranch was born.
Get to Know Us!
Hi everyone, I'm Jake! I have loved the outdoors ever since I was a young kid, whether it was fishing, hunting, or camping. Being outside was where I was the happiest. I grew up chasing muskies all over Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ontario, Canada. To this day, it is still one of the activities I love doing most. On cool fall days, you'll find me in the woods hunting white tail. If I'm not outside, you'll find me in the garage working on my newest hobbies: wood, leather, and knife crafting.
I'm Jen! I moved to rural Iowa in 2022 and started my little hobby farm, beginning with goats and a sweet bottle calf named Hazel. I love to hunt, garden, and cook (bonus points if it comes from the garden or a hunt!). I'm super passionate about regenerative/sustainable agriculture and permaculture and am excited to incorporate these principles on our ranch. If I'm not wrangling ornery goats or baking something sweet, you can find me at the pool swimming.
